A Letter from the Editors: We Support the Uprisings

The Princeton Progressive voiced its unequivocal support for the protests that followed the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Oluwatoyin Salau, and so many others. The editors pledged to make Black Liberation a continuing editorial commitment, and not merely a passing issue. They explicitly recognized the fundamental intertwining of capitalism and racism, as well as policing’s role in protecting capital’s interest. The editors called for a total defunding and disbanding of the police.

Princeton University is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of Lenapehoking and the Lenape people. We pay respect to Lenape peoples past, present, and future and their continuing presence in the homeland and throughout the Lenape diaspora.
